Determination of Nuclear DNA Content and Chromosome Number of Verbascum scamandri Murb. (Scrophulariaceae)

The aim of the study was to determine chromosome number and nuclear DNA content an endemic plant, V. scamandri, using 14-week-old plants germinated from seed genetic stability based on flow cytometry analyses in callus tissue induced MS medium containing 1 mg/L Kin + 2,4-D 9-week-old propagated plants, developed 2 0.1 2,4-D. In mitotic counts showed scamandri had 2n = 16. Flow cytometric analysis revealed that vitro grown has 0.73 pg/2C ± 0.01, 0.76 0.02 plantlets as 0.79 0.01. results proved similar seed-derived which analysed were genetically stable.
